Lacking in Updates

It finally damn happened.
Back in August one of my ex-roomies and I hit the road in The Woobaru. We drove, and drove, and drove. We drove until our asses were sore, as is want to happen in a 2007 Impreza. (Nice seats, but not great.) We made a couple of stops along the way in addition to the food+gas stops. First was Colorado to see Ari and Koji, then a second one in Illinois to see Sentinel.
All in all, not a bad drive. Long as hell though. Wyoming is still boring as shit, though I’m glad we detoured through Colorado because it meant not taking I-80/I-90 the whole way across, which I’ve already done twice. This time we went through Missouri and Kansas instead of Nebraska and Iowa (Which, unfortunately, means we didn’t get to see The World’s Largest Truckstop, but I guess I’ll survive.)
Eventually (about 3 days I think) we landed in Connecticut. The room wasn’t ready for me, since somehow the left hand forgot to tell the right hand someone new was moving in that weekend from across the fucking country (a foreshadowing of things to come, but we won’t be getting in to that), so we had to wait for that, then I unloaded most of my stuff from my car, dropped Taur off at a hotel and made my way in to Massachusetts to see Mike. After a slight delay trying to figure out how to circumvent the turnpike as I didn’t have cash on me, I made it to Worcester. I met his dog before I met him and almost had a confused as to which one was which (Just kidding, Jack, you’re way cuter.) We spent that week together as his folks were away in Maine doing their vacation hoo-hah. We painted the town red. There was much Vodka consumed. I think we even went to TGI-Fridays twice. How’s that for some first dates? Fuckin’ tasty, that’s how.
Meanwhile, back in Connecticut
After The Week of Much MerrimentTM was over, I had to head back to CT and begin setting up my room. The room was alright, at least it was my own room. I had to Red Green a goddamn door handle and lock on myself, but other than that it was great (I am both handsome AND handy). Oh, and the yellow-jackets. And spiders. Yea, apparently the heater was broken and that made a giant hole in the wall which went outside. Also, there’s a beehive integrated in to the walls of the house. You can tell, because the plaster and drywall are squishy from honey run off in the summer. They’d all go chill in my room when it was unpleasant outside for whatever reason. I found a spider the size of a fifty-cent coin wandering around near my feet one day and almost shit myself. After he worked his way back outside a bee replaced him and the Evil Fucking Cat helped me get rid of it.
After two months of that hole, making only the bare weekly amount from my editing/writing gig, not eating much, getting no nibbles on my resume and job apps and what not, I got in touch with my ex, Chris, up in Vermont. After some light negotiations he agreed to let me move in with him and within a couple of weeks I got a job. (And I kept it for more than 4 days and didn’t try to occupy anything. Like a bauss.)
And that’s it, at least so far. I’m working at BestBuy now selling cameras and MP3 players and what not. Looking to get my own place, as Chris hates that I’m dating and refuses to let Mike visit, and Mike’s parents aren’t so keen on the faggot thing so he can’t have me over there. Makes the 4 hour drive hard to swing. Hopefully, sometime soon, I’ll see him again. He still has to give me my Christmas present. :P
In other news…
Mike finally got his new Computer. It’s apparently the Bee’s Knees, but I haven’t seen it yet. I helped him build it via AIM and Text Message. I’m that awesome. Now, he’s saving for his car and then who knows. Maybe we’ll move in together somehow. I would like to move closer to him, first, though. C’est la vie.
I traded in my California plates for Vermont ones. Not sure when they’ll be here. My Super Intelligent Credit Union back home hasn’t relinquished the title to Vermont yet, so my plates are in limbo. Not sure what the hold up is, but that credit union is turning out to be more and more a bunch of fucking idiots. I may have to shake the tubes a bit to get the title unstuck. And in case you’re worried: The Woobaru will remain The Woobaru; it was available here in VT too.
Now if I could just find a good time for everyone to get my brakes done. I bought the pads already but apparently there may be some issue mating new pads to old rotors or something, so I’m not sure how to proceed. I also need snow tires something fierce, but I’m not going to have the money for that at all this winter. Hopefully the cities keep their shit together with the salt and plowing.
Chris also gave me back my other, first, domain! ShiftyEyed.net is mine once again. I’m waiting for it to transfer away from my current shitty Registrar over to Gandi.net, then I’ll be setting it up with a GoogleApps domain so I can play with all that shit. I want to see what happens if I integrate my CR-48 in to it. Supposedly it’s neat. We’ll see.
I’m running Mint linux in a Virtual Machine. Spotify is cool. Mike is neat. I want to finish learning Python.
I think that’s it.
Soon.

So, after… too long… It looks like I’m finally goddamn moving. Hooray!
Sometime in the last week of July or first week of August I’ll be driving to New England with one of my ex-roomies. Probably one ‘Day of Rest’ (Driver’s Shabbat), then I’ll be taking Taur to an airport (Logan? Maybe one in Connecticut… I don’t know D: ) and driving out to Worcester for happy fun time.
Should be fun >_> I have to start taking trips to Manteca again now to get everything ready. Do not want. I’ve been having such a lovely time in San Jose away from… all that.

In other news, I finally got my old domain back from He Who Shall Remain Chubby Unnamed, and am not sure what to do with it now that I have this domain. The old one is ShiftyEyed.net, which just points here for now. Should I buy hosting? Le sigh.
